When last we met our not-quite heroine, she was struggling with the challenges of eating right- when there’s hardly any food to be found (and picking berries in the forest is so passe), exercising- when you’re exhausted from trying to find food and fear you could be kidnapped by a mouth-breathing trucker also calling your hotel home for the night, and then dying to binge eat after having survived all that while travelling for a business trip. So it’s time to do the wash and air the dirty laundry of my post-business trip efforts to “lose it.”
My daughter became ill while I was on my business trip. Want to know how to amp up the anxiety level of a mom? Send her on a business trip (guilt: family vs. career) and have her child become ill day one of trip (guilt: mom’s not there for sick child and BONUS! she has no control over the situation). So on my way home from the business trip…starved, guilty, impotent…I stopped at Black Eyed Pea. They have great veggies there, but that’s not what I ate. I ate a shit load of bread, fried mushrooms, pot roast, broccoli-cheese-rice casserole, and green beans. The only thing I didn’t eat was dessert and the table linens. I finally arrived home to my sick baby, briefly went to work the next day, then spent the last two-days caring for my sick child. Let me come cleaner:
Thurs: Bfast: Eggs, sausage, cheese, picante
I don’t even remember what I had for lunch.
Dinner: Spaghetti, meatballs, bread stick
Fri: Bfast: IHOP grand-slammy thing. Basically, eggs, bacon, sausage, ham, hash browns, gravy and toast. The only good thing I did here was sub pancakes for toast and split everything but the hash browns and eggs with my daughter.
Lunch: Left-over spaghetti
Dinner: Two slices of pizza, 1.5 bread sticks. The icing off a birthday cake and a ice cream. Oh, and coke. Blek.
NO EXERCISING Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday.
So as you can see, I am way off track. And I have to ask, am I the only working mom who can’t get this crap together when juggling sick kids, travel, etc.? Chaos is bitch.
So my friend sent these tips, which I will share with you:
